Shirdi: A Spiritual Holiday

Shirdi is a popular town that is located in the state of Maharashtra in India and it is a famous pilgrimage center for the devotees of the saint Sai Baba, who lived in the town. There are a number of important things to see here and tourism is at a high between the months of September and November. There are also a number of hotels in town that offer some wonderful accommodation to tourists.

The Gurusthan is another important site here that is visited by pilgrims and it is known as the tree under which the people of the town had seen the saint meditating. The Dhuni, which is a fire that Sai Baba lit over a century ago, is another important site to visit here and the Dwarakamayi is the mosque, located near the temple, where the saint had lived for sixty years. There are a number of places in town where tourists can try some delicious food, which is predominantly vegetarian and there are many great shops in town where tourists can buy books and souvenirs. A new place called Sai Garden is coming up here and it will provide people with information on the saint and give them a little glimpse into his life. Many tourists that visit Shirdi also travel to the town of Shani Shingnapur, which is famous for its temple dedicated to Lord Shani.

There are a number of wonderful places in town where one can find some great accommodation that fits the budget, like Sun n Sand and Sai Leela. A trip to Shirdi offers tourists a glimpse into the culture of the country and it is a popular destination among followers of Sai Baba.
